System Requirements

To run the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0, your computer must meet the following minimum system requirements:

Installation Instructions

Note  To install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite on a Windows Vista/XP/2000 system, you must be logged in with administrator privileges.

Complete the following steps to install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite:

  1. Remove any previously installed versions of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Order Analysis Toolkit. Refer to the Uninstallation Instructions section below for information about uninstalling previous or current versions of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Order Analysis Toolkit.
  2. Insert the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. If the CD startup screen does not appear, use Windows Explorer to run the autorun.exe program located in the top-level folder on the CD.
  3. Follow the setup instructions that appear on the screen.

Uninstallation Instructions

You must uninstall the Sound and Vibration Toolkit 4.0 or earlier and the Order Analysis Toolkit 2.1 or earlier before you install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 or the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0. If you want to upgrade the Sound and Vibration Toolkit from a previous version and you have the Order Analysis Toolkit 2.1 or earlier, you must purchase and install the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite 5.0, because you cannot install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 on a computer that has the Order Analysis Toolkit.

Complete the following steps to uninstall previous versions of the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or Order Analysis Toolkit.

  1. Open the Add or Remove Programs dialog box from the Control Panel.
  2. Select National Instruments Software and click the Change/Remove button.
  3. Under NI Products, select NI LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolkit or NI LabVIEW Order Analysis Toolkit and click the Remove button.

Redistributing Executable Sound and Vibration Applications

If you are redistributing executables built with the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite or any of its components, you are required to purchase the appropriate NI Sound and Vibration Software Run-Time License. The part number for the NI Sound and Vibration Software Run-Time License is 779875-01.

Accessing the Help

Refer to the LabVIEW Help, accessible by selecting Help»Search the LabVIEW Help in LabVIEW, for information about the Sound and Vibration and Order Analysis VIs. Help specific to the Sound and Vibration VIs is available from the VI and Function Reference»Toolkits»Sound and Vibration VIs book on the Contents tab of the LabVIEW Help. Help specific to the Order Analysis VIs is available from the VI and Function Reference»Toolkits»Order Analysis VIs book on the Contents tab of the LabVIEW Help.

Refer to the LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Analysis User Manual, available by selecting Start»Programs»National Instruments»Sound and Vibration»Manuals»LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Analysis User Manual, for information about the different measurements offered by the Sound and Vibration VIs.

Refer to the Getting Started with Order Analysis document, available by selecting Start»Programs»National Instruments»Sound and Vibration»Manuals»Getting Started with Order Analysis, for an introduction to the Order Analysis VIs. Refer to the LabVIEW Help and navigate to the Toolkits»Order Analysis»Order Analysis Concepts book on the Contents tab for more information about order analysis concepts and functionality available in the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite. You must have LabVIEW 8.2.1 or later installed to view conceptual topics about order analysis functionality.

Finding Examples

LabVIEW examples for the Sound and Vibration VIs are located in the examples\Sound and Vibration folder of the LabVIEW installation directory. LabVIEW examples for the Order Analysis VIs are located in the examples\Order Analysis folder of the LabVIEW installation directory. You can modify an example VI to fit an application, or you can copy and paste from one or more examples into a VI that you create.

You also can find example VIs using the NI Example Finder. Select Help»Find Examples to launch the NI Example Finder. You also can click the arrow on the Open button on the LabVIEW dialog box and select Examples from the shortcut menu to launch the NI Example Finder.
